Leicester Fencing Club's Area Competition
The Leicester Fencing Club's competition was held on the 27th November 2011 at Ayleston Leisure Centre. The event was a resounding success; being very well organised and although a late start, the Piste's were constantly in use and the event soon returned to schedule for the Foil, Epee and Sabre disciplines.

Leicestershire Co-op (Snibson) Band 40th Birthday Concert
The Leicestershire Co-op (Snibston) Band was established in 1971 as the South Midlands Welfare Band, so it gave great pleasure that they welcomed people to their 40th Birthday Concert. The Last 40 years has seen many bands disappear of the banding map. For them, the band counldn't be stronger and, despite the current economic climate, the band remains strong. This year has been the bands most successful year ever, taking no less than eleven trophies in the first half of 2011, including becoming 2011 Midlands Regional Champions and gaining promotion to the banding's "First Section" (the equivalent of "The Championship" in football). So this concert is a celebration, not only the bands 40th birthday, but also in recognition of their success. Success of this magnitude comes with monetary cost and they are indepted to their main sponser who's name they now carry. The Midlands Co-operative Society Member Relations has been their main sponsor since 1995.

2nd Largest Gallery outside London opens
Thursday, 15th September 2011 at 3pm saw the opening of the Leicester People's Photographic Gallery.
The day started early for Gallery Manager Ian Davies putting the final touches to an already amazing achievement of getting the gallery in shape. It has taken Ian and his helpers just 8 weeks to clear a small mountain of rubbish, make good the walls and paint.
The simple fact of the matter is, the Gallery is open, amazing and already exhibiting tremendous work by its members and the Leicester Mercury who's local photographic artists have allowed for the exhibition to be a resounding success.

Wild Arena Big Cats Photography Shoot at the Wildlife Heritage Foundation Sanctuary in Kent.
On the 15th August 2011, I was privileged to be guided around the Big Cats Sanctuary in Kent by David Southard from the Wild Arena photography school.
I have always had a fascination with Big Cats and to get this opportunity to get up close to the animals was a wonderful experience.
The Big Cat Sanctuary allows the WHF to breed a collection of big cats in conjunction with the European Rare Species Breeding Program. We are aiming to increase the generic diversity of cats with a view to reintroduction to the wild.
